[Machine] Once, Tha'laba ibn 'Anama, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , came to him while he was sitting. He greeted the Prophet, and on his finger, he had a gold ring. The Prophet did not respond to his greeting. Tha'laba greeted him again, but the Prophet still did not respond. Then someone said to the Prophet, "O Messenger of Allah, Tha'laba has greeted you three times, but you did not respond." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Did you not see me averting my face from him as if a spark of fire was in his hand?" Afterward, the Prophet threw Tha'laba's ring away, declaring it unlawful.
