[Machine] He used to gather his children and say, "O my children, learn, for if you are small among a people, perhaps you will be great among others. And how unfortunate it is for an elderly person to be asked when he has no knowledge."  

الدارمي:٥٧١أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَلَفٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَجْمَعُ بَنِيهِ فَيَقُولُ «يَا بَنِيَّ تَعَلَّمُوا فَإِنْ تَكُونُوا صِغَارَ قَوْمٍ فَعَسَى أَنْ تَكُونُوا كِبَارَ آخَرِينَ وَمَا أَقْبَحَ عَلَى شَيْخٍ يُسْأَلُ لَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ عِلْمٌ»
