Nafi' reported that Abdullah (b. 'Umar) informed him that Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned his face to the two hillocks which intervened between him and the long mountain by the side of the Ka'ba, and the mosque which had been built there was thus on the left of the hillock. Messenger of Allah's ﷺ place of prayer was lower than the black hillock, at a distance of ten cubits or near it. He ﷺ would then observe prayer facing these two hillocks of the long mountain that is intervening between you and the Ka'ba.

ahmad:5601ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar

[Machine] He informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ faced the long mountain that is in front of the Kaaba, and he built the mosque to the right, and the mosque is at the end of the hill, and the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is below it on the black hill, extending about ten arms or so from the hill. Then he prays facing the two obligatory prayer places from the long mountain that is between it and the Kaaba.
