That he said to the Prophet ﷺ "You have not been of any avail to your uncle (Abu Talib) (though) by Allah, he used to protect you and used to become angry on your behalf." The Prophet ﷺ said, "He is in a shallow fire, and had It not been for me, he would have been in the bottom of the (Hell) Fire."
لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَا أَغْنَيْتَ عَنْ عَمِّكَ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَحُوطُكَ وَيَغْضَبُ لَكَ قَالَ هُوَ فِي ضَحْضَاحٍ مِنْ نَارٍ وَلَوْلاَ أَنَا لَكَانَ فِي الدَّرَكِ الأَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ
ʿAbbas bin ʿAbdul Muttalib said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Did you benefit Abu Talib with anything as he used to protect and take care of you, and used to become angry for you?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Yes, he is in a shallow place of Fire. Were it not for me, he would have been in the bottom-most depth of the Fire."
يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَلْ نَفَعْتَ أَبَا طَالِبٍ بِشَىْءٍ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَحُوطُكَ وَيَغْضَبُ لَكَ قَالَ نَعَمْ هُوَ فِي ضَحْضَاحٍ مِنْ نَارٍ لَوْلاَ أَنَا لَكَانَ فِي الدَّرَكِ الأَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ
Messenger of Allah, have you benefited Abu Talib in any way for he defended you and was fervent in your defence? The Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) said: Yes; he would be in the most shallow part of the Fire and were not for me, he would have been in the bottom-most depth of Hell.
أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَلْ نَفَعْتَ أَبَا طَالِبٍ بِشَىْءٍ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَحُوطُكَ وَيَغْضَبُ لَكَ قَالَ نَعَمْ هُوَ فِي ضَحْضَاحٍ مِنْ نَارٍ وَلَوْلاَ أَنَا لَكَانَ فِي الدَّرْكِ الأَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ
ʿAbbas bin ʿAbdul Muttalib said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Did you benefit Abu Talib with anything as he used to protect and take care of you, and used to become angry for you?" [Machine] I said to the Prophet ﷺ , "What prevented you from helping your uncle? He used to protect you and get angry for your sake." He said, "He is in a shallow pit of fire, and if it were not for me, he would have been in the lowest levels of Hell."
قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَا أَغْنَيْتَ عَنْ عَمِّكَ فَقَدْ كَانَ يَحُوطُكَ وَيَغْضَبُ لَكَ قَالَ هُوَ فِي ضَحْضَاحٍ وَلَوْلا أَنَا لَكَانَ فِي الدَّرْكِ الْأَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ
[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, did Abu Talib benefit from anything? For he used to protect you and become angry on your behalf." He (the Prophet) said, "Yes, he is in a shallow part of Hellfire. If it were not for that, he would have been in the lowest level of Hellfire."
