bukhari:3707ʿAlī b. al-Jaʿd > Shuʿbah > Ayyūb > Ibn Sīrīn > ʿAbīdah > ʿAlī

Ali said (to the people of 'Iraq), "Judge as you used to judge, for I hate differences (and I do my best ) till the people unite as one group, or I die as my companions have died."  

البخاري:٣٧٠٧حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ قَالَ اقْضُوا كَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَقْضُونَ فَإِنِّي أَكْرَهُ الاِخْتِلاَفَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ لِلنَّاسِ جَمَاعَةٌ أَوْ أَمُوتَ كَمَا مَاتَ أَصْحَابِي فَكَانَ ابْنُ سِيرِينَ يَرَى

أَنَّ عَامَّةَ مَا يُرْوَى عَلَى عَلِيٍّ الْكَذِبُ
