[Machine] About Mujahid's statement regarding the verse "And whoever desires other than Islam as religion, never will it be accepted from him" (Quran 3:85), when this verse was revealed, the people of different religions said, "We are all Muslims." So Allah revealed the verse "And pilgrimage to the House is a duty unto Allah for mankind" (Quran 3:97), indicating that it is obligatory for Muslims to perform Hajj, while the polytheists abandoned it.  

البيهقي:٨٦٠٩أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ

عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ {وَمَنْ يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا} [آل عمران 85] قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ قَالَ أَهْلُ الْمِلَلِ كُلُّهُمْ نَحْنُ مُسْلِمُونَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ {وَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ} [آل عمران 97] قَالَ يَعْنِي عَلَى النَّاسِ فَحَجَّ الْمُسْلِمُونَ وَتَرَكَهُ الْمُشْرِكُونَ
