[Machine] I went to prayer with the Prophet ﷺ to see how he performed the witr prayer. He performed the qunut before the ruku'. Then, my mother sent Umm Ma'bad with me and I said, "My house is with his wives, so look at how he performs the witr prayer and inform me." She informed me that he performed the qunut before the ruku'. This hadith was narrated by Sufyan al-Thawri from Abaan ibn Abi Ayyash, and the narration is established and Abaan is a trustworthy narrator.  

بِتُّ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَأَنْظُرَ كَيْفَ يَقْنُتُ فِي وِتْرِهِ فَقَنَتَ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ ثُمَّ بَعَثَتْ أُمِّي أُمَّ مَعْبَدٍ فَقُلْتُ بِيتِي مَعَ نِسَائِهِ فَانْظُرِي كَيْفَ يَقْنُتُ فِي وِتْرِهِ فَأَنْبِئِينِي فَأَخْبَرَتْنِي أَنَّهُ قَنَتَ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ وَرَوَاهُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبَانَ بْنِ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ وَمَدَارُ الْحَدِيثِ عَلَيْهِ وَأَبَانُ مَتْرُوكٌ
