[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , it has been narrated in authentic reports that there are verses in the Quran that testify to this, such as His saying: "And your Lord will come with the angels, rank upon rank" [Al-Fajr 22]. The descent and ascent are two attributes attributed to Allah, free from movement and transition from one state to another. Rather, they are two attributes of Allah, without any resemblance. Allah, the Exalted, is far above what those who deny His attributes say, or those who liken Him to others in greatness. I (the author) say, Abu Sulayman al-Khattabi (may Allah have mercy on him), used to say: "The one who denies this or anything similar from the narrations, is the one who measures matters based on what he observes of descent, which is a dropping from a higher position to a lower one, and movement from above to below. And these are the characteristics of bodies and ghosts. As for the descent of the One over whom the attributes of bodies do not have control, then these meanings are not imaginary in Him. Rather, it is news regarding His power, His mercy towards His servants, His kindness to them, His response to their supplication, and His forgiveness for them. He does what He wills, without His attributes having a specific modality, nor His actions having a quantitative measure. Exalted is He, there is nothing like Him, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
