[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two rak'ahs after Dhuhr or Asr prayer, and then he finished and said, "Did the prayer become shorter, O Messenger of Allah, or did you forget?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied to his companions, "Which of the two do you think is more correct?" They said, "Yes." So he prayed two additional rak'ahs and performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness. Shu'bah said that Sa'd and I saw Urwah ibn Zubayr pray two rak'ahs after Maghrib prayer, then he made a speech, and then he completed his prayer and said, "This is what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did." This is the narration of Adam, but it does not include the story of Urwah.  

البيهقي:٣٩٠٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْمُقْرِئُ ابْنِ الْحَمَامِيِّ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ثنا 1885 بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ثنا شُعْبَةُ (ح) وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ثنا آدَمُ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ قَالَ

صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الظُّهْرَ أَوِ الْعَصْرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ أَقَصُرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَمْ نَسِيتَ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِأَصْحَابِهِ أَحَقٌّ مَا يَقُولُ؟ قَالُوا نَعَمْ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ أُخْرَاوَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيِ السَّهْوِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَعْدٌ وَرَأَيْتُ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ صَلَّى مِنَ الْمَغْرِبِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَسَلَّمَ وَتَكَلَّمَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى مَا بَقِيَ وَقَالَ هَكَذَا فَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ آدَمَ وَلَيْسَ فِي حَدِيثِ بِشْرٍ قِصَّةُ عُرْوَةَ

The Prophet ﷺ led us in the ʿAsr or the Zuhr prayer and finished it with Taslim. Dhul-Yadain said to him, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Has the prayer been reduced?" The Prophet ﷺ asked his companions in the affirmative. So Messenger of Allah ﷺ I offered two more rakʿat and then performed two prostrations (of Sahu). Saʿd said, "I saw that 'Urwa bin Az-Zubair had offered two rakʿat in the Maghrib prayer and finished it with Taslim. He then talked (and when he was informed about it) he completed the rest of his prayer and performed two prostrations, and said, 'The Prophet ﷺ prayed like this.' "  

البخاري:١٢٢٧ – حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ قَالَ

صَلَّى بِنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الظُّهْرَ أَوِ الْعَصْرَ فَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَهُ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ الصَّلاَةُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهَ أَنَقَصَتْ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لأَصْحَابِهِ أَحَقٌّ مَا يَقُولُ قَالُوا نَعَمْ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ أُخْرَيَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ قَالَ سَعْدٌ وَرَأَيْتُ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ صَلَّى مِنَ الْمَغْرِبِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَسَلَّمَ وَتَكَلَّمَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى مَا بَقِيَ وَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَقَالَ هَكَذَا فَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two units of Dhuhr or Asr prayer. The man with two hands said to him, "Did you shorten the prayer, O Messenger of Allah, or did you forget?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions, "What does the man with two hands say?" They said, "Yes." So, he prayed two additional units, then prostrated for the two prostrations of forgetfulness. Sa'd said, "I saw Urwah ibn Zubayr praying two units after Maghrib and then speaking, then he prayed what was left." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did the same.  

البيهقي:٣٣٥٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا آدَمُ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ
