[Machine] He entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day and placed his garment between his thighs. He mentioned its meaning, and it is more likely that he ﷺ took the edge of his garment and placed it between his thighs, as no other interpretation is imagined, and it is only revealed in most cases in his knees, below his thighs. Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari's narration clarified that he was in another story. 3246 Abu Al-Hassan Ali ibn Muhammad Al-Muqri informed Al-Hassan ibn Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who narrated from Yusuf ibn Ya'qub Al-Qadi, who narrated from Sulaiman ibn Harb, who narrated from Hammad ibn Zaid in a hadith mentioned by Ayyub from Abu Uthman from Abu Musa who said: Hammad narrated to me that Ali ibn Al-Hakam and Asim Al-Ahwal heard Abu Uthman narrating from Abu Musa something similar to this, except that Asim added that when the Prophet ﷺ was in a place where water was visible up to his knees, when Uthman approached, he covered his knees.  

البيهقي:٣٢٤٥أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو صَادِقِ بْنُ أَبِي الْفَوَارِسِ الْعَطَّارُ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ شَيْبَانَ عَنْ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَدَنِيِّ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ عُمَرَ قَالَتْ

دَخَلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَوَضَعَ ثَوْبَهُ بَيْنَ فَخِذَيْهِ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ وَالَّذِي هُوَ أَشْبَهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ ﷺ أَخَذَ بِطَرَفِ ثَوْبِهِ فَوَضَعَهُ بَيْنَ فَخِذَيْهِ إِذْ لَا يُظَنُّ بِهِ غَيْرُ ذَلِكَ وَإِنَّمَا يَنْكَشِفُ بِذَلِكَ فِي الْغَالِبِ رُكْبَتَاهُ دُونَ فَخِذَيْهِ وَرِوَايَةُ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ قَدْ صَرَّحَتْ بِذَلِكَ أَظُنُّهُ فِي قِصَّةٍ أُخْرَى 3246 أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ فِي حَدِيثٍ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ حَمَّادٌ فَحَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ وَعَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا أَبَا عُثْمَانَ يُحَدِّثُهُ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى نَحْوًا مِنْ هَذَا غَيْرَ أَنَّ عَاصِمًا زَادَ فِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ فِي مَكَانٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ قَدْ كَشَفَ عَنْ رُكْبَتَيْهِ فَلَمَّا أَقْبَلَ عُثْمَانُ غَطَّاهُمَا  

رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ حَرْبٍ وَهَذَا لَا حُجَّةَ فِيهِ لِمَنْ ذَهَبَ إِلَى أَنَّ الْفَخِذَ لَيْسَتْ بِعَوْرَةٍ وَكَشْفُهُمَا قَبْلَ دُخُولِ عُثْمَانَ ؓ إِنَّمَا يَدُلُّ عَلَى أَنَّ الرُّكْبَتَيْنِ لَيْسَتَا بِعَوْرَةٍ وَعَلَى ذَلِكَ دَالٌّ أَيْضًا حَدِيثُ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَلَى أَنَّ السُّرَّةَ لَيْسَتْ بِعَوْرَةٍ وَإِنَّمَا الْعَوْرَةُ مِنَ الرَّجُلِ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا
