[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to perform the qunut in the morning. 'Amr mentioned this to Ibrahim, who said, "The companions of Abdullah were not like those who dispute." 'Amr then left and stopped performing the qunut. The people of the mosque said, "By Allah, we have never seen anything like today. There has always been something in our mosque." 'Amr returned to performing the qunut, and Ibrahim found out about this and said, "This person has been defeated in his prayer." The sheikh said, "This is from Ibrahim an-Nakha'i. May Allah show mercy to us and him. It is not necessary for every piece of knowledge to be found with the companions of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud. If it is found elsewhere, it should be accepted if it is higher than the companions of Abdullah." The narrator was trustworthy, and Abdur Rahman ibn Abi Layla was also trustworthy. 'Amr ibn Murrah was informed by the people of the mosque that there had always been qunut in their mosque. We also narrate from Bara' ibn 'Azib from another perspective that he used to perform qunut in the Fajr prayer.  

البيهقي:٣١١٩أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْبَغَوِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا عَلِيٌّ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْجَعْدِ أنبأ شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْنُتُ فِي الصُّبْحِ قَالَ عَمْرٌو فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِإِبْرَاهِيمَ فَقَالَ لَمْ يَكُنْ كَأَصْحَابِ عَبْدِ اللهِ كَانَ صَاحِبَ مِرَاءٍ قَالَ فَرَجَعْتُ فَتَرَكَتُ الْقُنُوتَ فَقَالَ أَهْلُ الْمَسْجِدِ تَاللهِ مَا رَأَيْنَا كَالْيَوْمِ قَطُّ شَيْئًا لَمْ يَزَلْ فِي مَسْجِدِنَا قَالَ فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى الْقُنُوتِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَلَقِيَنِي فَقَالَ هَذَا مَغْلُوبٌ عَلَى صَلَاتِهِ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَهَذَا مِنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّخَعِيِّ رَحِمَنَا اللهُ وَإِيَّاهُ غَيْرُ مَرَضِيٍّ لَيْسَ كُلُّ عِلْمٍ لَا يُوجَدُ عِنْدَ أَصْحَابِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ؓ وَوُجِدَ عِنْدَ غَيْرَهِ لَا يُؤْخَذُ بِهِ بَلْ يُؤْخَذُ بِهِ إِذَا كَانَ أَعْلَى مِنْ أَصْحَابِ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَكَانَ الرَّاوِي ثِقَةً وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى ثِقَةٌ وَقَدْ أَخْبَرَ عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ عَنْ أَهْلِ الْمَسْجِدِ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَزَلْ فِي مَسْجِدِهِمْ وَرُوِّينَا عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ؓ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ أَنَّهُ قَنَتَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ
