[Machine] However, those who came before would stay with the imam for an hour after saying the takbir without reciting as much as they recite with Surah Al-Fatiha. Abdur Razzaq said that Ibn Juraij narrated from Ibn Khuthaym from Sa'id bin Jubayr that "when they said the takbir, they would not start their recitation until they knew that the person behind them had recited Surah Al-Fatiha."

لَكِنْ مَنْ مَضَى كَانُوا إِذَا كَبَّرُوا مَكَثَ الْإِمَامُ سَاعَةً لَا يَقْرَأُ قَدْرَ مَا يَقْرَءُونَ بِأُمِّ الْكِتَابِ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ عَنِ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ كَانُوا إِذَا كَبَّرُوا لَا يَفْتَتِحُونَ الْقِرَاءَةَ حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ أَنَّ مَنْ خَلْفَهُ قَدْ قَرَأَ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ
