[Machine] I heard Hisham ibn Hakim ibn Hizam reciting Surah Al-Furqan in a different way than I recite it, and the Prophet ﷺ used to recite it in the same way as I do. So, I was about to rush upon him and interrupt his recitation, but then I waited until he finished. After that, I wrapped him with his own garment, brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I heard this man reciting Surah Al-Furqan in a different way than you taught me." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Recite it." So, he recited it in the same way as I heard him recite it before. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It was revealed like this." Then he said to me, "Recite it." So, I recited it, and he said, "It was revealed like this. Indeed, the Quran was revealed in seven different dialects, so recite that which is easy for you." Imam Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said, "When Allah, in His mercy, revealed His book in seven different dialects, it was so that the recitation of the Quran would be made easy for people. And even though the wording may differ, as long as the meaning remains the same, it is permissible. And it is not permissible for anyone to deliberately omit reciting a letter from the Quran, except due to forgetting. And this applies to the Tashahhud (a part of the prayer) and all forms of remembrance, as they are less strict." He also said, "Whoever criticized Shafi'i for choosing the narration of Ibn Abbas in the Tashahhud over others, I say that when I saw that narration was widespread and authentic, and I heard it from Ibn Abbas directly, I took it as more reliable and more abundant in wording than others. Therefore, I adhered to it, not criticizing those who adhered to other narrations unless the evidence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was proven, such as the narration of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, Abdullah ibn Abbas, and Abu Musa al-Ash'ari."
سَمِعْتُ هِشَامَ بْنَ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْفُرْقَانِ عَلَى غَيْرِ مَا أَقْرَؤُهَا وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَقْرَأَنِيهَا فَكِدْتُ أَنْ أَعْجَلَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَمْهَلْتُهُ حَتَّى انْصَرَفَ ثُمَّ لَبَّبْتُهُ بِرِدَائِهِ فَجِئْتُ بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ هَذَا يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْفُرْقَانِ عَلَى غَيْرِ مَا أَقْرَأْتَنِيهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اقْرَأْ فَقَرَأَ الْقِرَاءَةَ الَّتِي سَمِعْتُهُ يَقْرَأُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هَكَذَا أُنْزِلَتْ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي اقْرَأْ فَقَرَأْتُ فَقَالَ هَكَذَا أُنْزِلَتْ إِنَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ أُنْزِلَ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ فَاقْرَءُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ فَإِذَا كَانَ اللهُ بِرَأْفَتِهِ بِخَلْقِهِ أَنْزَلَ كِتَابَهُ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ مَعْرِفَةً مِنْهُ بِأَنَّ الْحِفْظَ قَدْ نَزَلَ لِيَجْعَلَ لَهُمْ قِرَاءَتَهُ وَإِنِ اخْتَلَفَ لَفْظُهُمْ فِيهِ كَانَ مَا سِوَى كِتَابِ اللهِ أَوْلَى أَنْ يَجُوزَ فِيهِ اخْتِلَافُ اللَّفْظِ مَا لَمْ يَخِلَّ مَعْنَاهُ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ وَلَيْسَ لِأَحَدٍ أَنْ يَعْمِدَ أَنْ يَكُفَّ عَنْ قِرَاءَةِ حَرْفٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ إِلَّا بِنِسْيَانٍ وَهَذَا فِي التَّشَهُّدِ وَفِي جَمِيعِ الذِّكْرِ أَخَفُّ وَقَالَ مَنْ كَلَّمَ الشَّافِعِيَّ كَيْفَ صِرْتَ إِلَى اخْتِيَارِ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي التَّشَهُّدِ دُونَ غَيْرِهِ؟ قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ لَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُ وَاسِعًا وَسَمِعْتُهُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ صَحِيحًا كَانَ عِنْدِي أَجْمَعَ وَأَكْثَرَ لَفْظًا مِنْ غَيْرِهِ فَأَخَذْتُ بِهِ غَيْرَ مُعَنِّفٍ لِمَنْ أَخَذَ بِغَيْرِهِ مَا ثَبَتَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَالثَّابِتُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي ذَلِكَ حَدِيثُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَأَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ
