[Machine] I arrived in the city and began to perform prayer as the companions of Abdullah would do. I also performed the sujud. A man asked me, "O Abdullah, what makes you do this?" I said, "Abdullah used to do it and he mentioned that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do it." The man said, "Abdullah spoke the truth, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ may have done a certain action and then Allah revealed a different command to him. So observe what the Muslims are united upon and follow it." When I arrived, I stopped performing it. The scholar said, "This is what has been mentioned in the hadith of Abu Humaid Al-Saa'idi and others about the description of the Prophet's ﷺ ruku', and from that it is evident that the people of Medina are more knowledgeable about the abrogating and abrogated verses than the people of Kufa. And with Allah is the guidance."  

البيهقي:٢٥٤٨أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ أنبأ أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ الْجُعْفِيِّ قَالَ

قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَجَعَلْتُ أُطْبِقُ كَمَا يُطْبِقُ أَصْحَابُ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَأَرْكَعُ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ مَا يَحْمِلُكَ عَلَى هَذَا؟ قُلْتُ كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ يَفْعَلُهُ وَذَكَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ قَالَ صَدَقَ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَلَكِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رُبَّمَا صَنَعَ الْأَمْرَ ثُمَّ أَحْدَثَ اللهُ لَهُ الْأَمْرَ الْآخَرَ فَانْظُرْ مَا اجْتَمَعَ عَلَيْهِ الْمُسْلِمُونَ فَاصْنَعْهُ قَالَ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ كَانَ لَا يُطْبِقُ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَهَذَا الَّذِي صَارَ الْأَمْرُ إِلَيْهِ مَوْجُودٌ فِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ وَغَيْرِهِ فِي صِفَةِ رُكُوعِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَفِي ذَلِكَ مَا دَلَّ عَلَى أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَعْرَفُ بِالنَّاسِخِ وَالْمَنْسُوخِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ وَبِاللهِ التَّوْفِيقُ
