[Machine] Prayer is not valid without the opening chapter of the book, neither more nor less. We have been informed about this by Ali ibn Abi Talib, Abdullah ibn Masood, and Aisha.  

البيهقي:٢٤٧٦أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بِشْرَانَ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ثنا مِسْعَرٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ الْفَقِيرُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ ؓ يَقُولُ يَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ يَعْنِي الْأُولَيَيْنِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَةٍ وَفِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ قَالَ وَكُنَّا نَتَحَدَّثُ أَنَّهُ لَا

صَلَاةَ إِلَّا بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فَمَا فَوْقَ ذَاكَ أَوْ قَالَ مَا أَكْثَرُ مِنْ ذَاكَ وَرُوِّينَا مَا دَلَّ عَلَى هَذَا عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَعَائِشَةَ ؓ
