[Machine] About the Prophet, ﷺ , that he used to recite in the two units of the Dhuhr prayer, in each unit, the opening chapter of the Quran (Al-Fatiha) and a chapter (of the Quran). He would prolong the recitation in the first unit, and shorten it in the second unit, and sometimes he would make us hear a verse.

البيهقي:٢٤٥٧ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ حَمْدَانَ بِهَمْدَانَ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْجَزَّارُ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ثنا شَيْبَانُ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ مِنَ الظُّهْرِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَةٍ وَكَانَ يُطَوِّلُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى وَيُقَصِّرُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ وَيُسْمِعُنَا الْآيَةَ أَحْيَانًا

رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي نُعَيْمٍ عَنْ شَيْبَانَ وَأَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ مِنْ أَوْجُهٍ أُخَرَ عَنْ يَحْيَى

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the first two raka'ahs of Dhuhr and Asr the Opening Chapter of the Book and two surahs, and in the last two raka'ahs, he would recite the Mother of the Book and we would hear him recite a verse. He would prolong the first raka'ah more than the second raka'ah.
