[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Asr with us in the Makhmash area. He said, "Indeed, this prayer was shown to those who came before you, but they neglected it. Whoever guards it, his reward is as if he has performed it twice and there is no prayer after it until the witnesses appear." Ibn Bukayr asked Al-Laith about the witness, and he said, "It is the star."  

البيهقي:٢١١٠ – بِمَا أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مِلْحَانَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي خَيْرُ بْنُ نُعَيْمٍ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي هُبَيْرَةَ السَّبَائِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمٍ الْجَيْشَانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ قَالَ

صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْعَصْرَ بِالْمُخَمَّصِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ عُرِضَتْ عَلَى مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فَضَيَّعُوهَا فَمَنْ حَافَظَ عَلَيْهَا أُوفِيَ أَجْرَهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَلَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَهَا حَتَّى يَطْلُعَ الشَّاهِدُ قَالَ ابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ سَأَلْتُ اللَّيْثَ عَنِ الشَّاهِدِ فَقَالَ هُوَ النَّجْمُ  

رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ قُتَيْبَةَ عَنِ اللَّيْثِ وَلَا يَجُوزُ تَرْكُ الْأَحَادِيثِ الصَّحِيحَةِ الْمَشْهُورَةِ بِهَذَا وَإِنَّمَا الْمَقْصُودُ بِهَذَا نَفْيُ التَّطَوُّعِ بَعْدَهَا لَا بَيَانُ وَقْتِ الْمَغْرِبِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in the 'Asr prayer at (the place known as) Mukhammas, and then said: This prayer was presented to those gone before you, but they lost it, and he who guards it has two rewards in store for him. And no prayer is valid after till the onlooker appears (by onlooker is meant the evening star).  

مسلم:٨٣٠a – وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ خَيْرِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمٍ الْجَيْشَانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ قَالَ

nasai:521 – Qutaybah > al-Layth > Khayr b. Nuʿaym al-Ḥaḍramī > Ibn Hubayrah > Abū Tamīm al-Jayshānī > Abū Baṣrah al-Ghifārī

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in praying 'Asr in Al-Mukhammas. He said: 'This prayer was enjoined upon those who came before you, but they neglected it. Whoever prays it regularly will have a two-fold reward, and there is no prayer after it until the Shahid appears." And the Shahid is "the star." [1] [1] This is a statement of one of the narrators, and Allah knows best.
