[Machine] I heard Jabir bin Abdullah say, "The Prophet ﷺ was brought a lizard, but he refused to eat it. He said, 'I do not know, maybe it is from the early generations who were transformed.'"

(Most likely referring to the belief that some animals were transformed and became impure as a result of certain actions of the early generations.)  

البيهقي:١٩٤١٩وَأَمَّا الْحَدِيثُ الَّذِي أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أنبأ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ ؓ يَقُولُ أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِضَبٍّ فَأَبَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَهُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَا أَدْرِي لَعَلَّهُ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ الْأُولَى الَّتِي مُسِخَتْ  

رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَهَذَا مِثْلُ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي أَنَّهُ امْتَنَعَ مِنْ أَكْلِهِ وَزَادَ عَلَيْهِمَا فِي حِكَايَةِ عِلَّةِ الِامْتِنَاعِ عِلَّةً أُخْرَى لِلِامْتِنَاعِ سِوَى التَّقَذُّرِ وَزَادَ عَلَيْهِ مَا يَدُلُّ عَلَى الْإِبَاحَةِ
