[Machine] Abu Ubaid Al-Fur'ul is a descendant of the "Dabua" (a type of wild wolf) among the Arabs. The meaning of this saying is that he compared a female sheep to a sheep, saying that it is permissible (halal) just like the sheep.

البيهقي:١٩٣٨٩ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيُّ أنبأ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْكَارِزِيُّ أنبأ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ الرُّوَاسِيُّ عَنْ نَصْرِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنِ الضَّبُعِ فَقَالَ الْفُرْعُلُ تِلْكَ نَعْجَةٌ مِنَ الْغَنَمِ قَالَ

أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ الْفُرْعُلُ عِنْدَ الْعَرَبِ وَلَدُ الضَّبُعِ وَالَّذِي يُرَادُ مِنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ قَوْلُهُ نَعْجَةٌ مِنَ الْغَنَمِ يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا حَلَالٌ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْغَنَمِ
