Yahya related to me from Malik from al-Fudayl ibn Abi Abdullah, the mawla of al-Mahri that al-Qasim ibn Muhammad and Salim ibn Abdullah said, "When a woman is divorced and begins her third period, she is clearly separated from him and is free to marry again."

أَنَّ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَسَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ كَانَا يَقُولاَنِ إِذَا طُلِّقَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ فَدَخَلَتْ فِي الدَّمِ مِنَ الْحَيْضَةِ الثَّالِثَةِ فَقَدْ بَانَتْ مِنْهُ وَحَلَّتْ

[AI] Muawiyah wrote to Zaid, then Zaid wrote: "If the divorced woman enters the third menstruation, then she is cleared from him."

كَتَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى زَيْدٍ فَكَتَبَ زَيْدٌ إِذَا دَخَلَتِ الْمُطَلَّقَةُ فِي الْحَيْضَةِ الثَّالِثَةِ فَقَدْ بَرِئَتْ مِنْهُ

[AI] He used to say: If a man divorces his wife and she enters the third period of her menstrual cycle, then he is free from her and she is free from him. He does not inherit from her, and she does not inherit from him.

كَانَ يَقُولُ إِذَا طَلَّقَ الرَّجُلُ امْرَأَتَهُ فَدَخَلَتْ فِي الدَّمِ مِنَ الْحَيْضَةِ الثَّالِثَةِ فَقَدْ بَرِئَتْ مِنْهُ وَبَرِئَ مِنْهَا وَلَا تَرِثُهُ وَلَا يَرِثُهَا

[AI] About a woman, if she is divorced and enters her third period of menstrual bleeding, they say, "She has shown signs of ending and has become permissible."
