[Machine] Dhuhr and 'Ila' were considered forms of divorce during the pre-Islamic period, but Allah abolished them. Allah imposed a waiting period of four months for 'Ila' and prescribed expiation for Dhuhr.  

البيهقي:١٥٢٤٧أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُوسَى الْكَعْبِيُّ نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ نا يَزِيدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ نا بُكَيْرُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَالَ

كَانَ الظِّهَارُ وَالْإِيلَاءُ طَلَاقًا عَلَى عَهْدِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَوَقَّتَ اللهُ ﷻ فِي الْإِيلَاءِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَجَعَلَ فِي الظِّهَارِ الْكَفَّارَةَ
