[Machine] His wife was divorced by him three times in one sitting. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ felt extreme sadness for her and asked him, "How did you divorce her?" He replied, "I divorced her three times." The Prophet asked, "All in one sitting?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet then said, "This counts as one divorce, so if you wish, take her back." Ibn Abbas believed that divorce is counted for every period of purity, and this is the Sunnah that people were following and that Allah commanded, "Then, when they have reached their term, take them back in kindness or part with them in kindness." [Quran 65:1]. Abu Bakr ibn Al-Harith narrated to us, from Abu Muhammad ibn Hayyan, from Muslim ibn Asam, from Abdullah ibn Saad, from his paternal uncle, from his father, from Ibn Ishaq, that Dawud ibn Al-Husayn mentioned it. This chain of narration is not reliable, as it cannot be justified with the presence of eight narrators who narrated from Ibn Abbas differing from this, as well as the narration of the children of Rukana that her divorce was counted as one. And with Allah is the success.
