[Machine] When Abu Qays bin Al-Aslat died, his son Qays proposed to his father's wife. She went to the Messenger of Allah, may ﷺ , and said, "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Qays has passed away, and his son Qays, one of the best young men, has proposed to me. I told him that I would only marry him if he had a child, and I am not someone who can surpass the Messenger of Allah in any way." The Messenger of Allah remained silent. Then, the verse was revealed, "And do not marry those [women] whom your fathers married..." (Quran 4:22). This is a direct revelation and its meaning has been mentioned by more than one scholar of interpretation.
