[Machine] Leave her while he is capable, then approach her and propose to her. And there was a barrier between him and her, so Allah the Almighty revealed the verse: "And when you divorce women and they have nearly fulfilled their term, do not prevent them from remarrying their [former] husbands" [Quran 2:232]. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him and recited the verse to him, so he abandoned the jealousy and complied with the command of Allah.  

البيهقي:١٣٥٩٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْفَضْلِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْعَدْلُ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ ثنا سَعِيدٌ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبِسْطَامِيُّ الْأَدِيبُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ ثنا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَبُنْدَارٌ قَالَا ثنا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ثنا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ثنا الْحَسَنُ أَنَّ مَعْقِلَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ ؓ كَانَتْ أُخْتُهُ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ فَطَلَّقَهَا ثُمَّ تَخَلَّى عَنْهَا حَتَّى إِذَا انْقَضَتْ عِدَّتُهَا ثُمَّ قَرُبَ يَخْطُبُهَا فَحَمَى مَعْقِلٌ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَنْفًا قَالَ

خَلِّ عَنْهَا وَهُوَ يَقْدِرُ ثُمَّ قَرُبَ يَخْطُبُهَا فَحَالَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ تَعَالَى {وَإِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ فَبَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ أَنْ يَنْكِحْنَ أَزْوَاجَهُنَّ} [البقرة 232] الْآيَةَ فَدَعَاهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَرَأَهَا عَلَيْهِ فَتَرَكَ الْحَمِيَّةَ ثُمَّ اسْتَقَادَ لِأَمْرِ اللهِ ﷻ  

رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى وَزَعَمَ الْكَلْبِيُّ أَنَّ أُخْتَهُ جَمِيلَةُ بِنْتُ يَسَارٍ

The sister of Ma'qil bin Yasar was married to a man and then that man divorced her and remained away from her till her period of the 'Iddah expired. Then he demanded for her hand in marriage, but Ma'qil got angry out of pride and haughtiness and said, "He kept away from her when he could still retain her, and now he demands her hand again?" So Ma'qil disagreed to remarry her to him. Then Allah revealed: 'When you have divorced women and they have fulfilled the term of their prescribed period, do not prevent them from marrying their (former) husbands.' (2.232) So the Prophet ﷺ sent for Ma'qil and recited to him (Allah's order) and consequently Ma'qil gave up his pride and haughtiness and yielded to Allah's order.
