[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to lag behind during a journey, urging the weak ones and helping them catch up. It has been narrated from Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he used to do that.  

البيهقي:١٠٣٥٢أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ثنا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ حَدَّثَهُمْ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَتَخَلَّفُ فِي الْمَسِيرِ فَيُزْجِي الضَّعِيفَ وَيُرْدِفُ وَيَدْعُو لَهُمْ وَرُوِّينَا عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to keep to the rear when travelling and urge on the weak. He would take someone up behind him and make supplication for them all.
