[Machine] "Uthman, I have no need for women. I will wait and see." Then Aba Bakr presented her to him, but Uthman remained silent. Later, Umar found the desire in himself for Abu Bakr and when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ proposed to her, Umar met Abu Bakr and said, "I had presented her to Uthman but he rejected me, and when I presented her to you, you remained silent about me. So I hold a stronger anger towards Uthman than towards you." Abu Bakr replied, "He had mentioned her in confidence, and I disliked revealing the secret."  

عُثْمَانُ مَا لِي فِي النِّسَاءِ حَاجَةٌ وَسَأَنْظُرُ فَلَقِيَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَعَرَضَهَا عَلَيْهِ فَسَكَتَ فَوَجَدَ عُمَرُ فِي نَفْسِهِ عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ خَطَبَهَا فَلَقِيَ عُمَرُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ عَرَضْتُهَا عَلَى عُثْمَانَ فَرَدَّنِي وَإِنِّي عَرَضْتُهَا عَلَيْكَ فَسَكَتَّ عَنِّي فَلَأَنَا عَلَيْكَ كُنْتُ أَشَدَّ غَضَبًا مِنِّي عَلَى عُثْمَانَ وَقَدْ رَدَّنِي فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ إِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ ذَكَرَ مِنْ أَمْرِهَا وَكَانَ سِرًّا فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أُفْشِيَ السِّرَّ
