The Abu Basir incident after the Hudaybiyah treaty

ahmad:18929Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Mubārak > Maʿmar > al-Zuhrī > ʿUrwah > al-Miswar b. Makhramah > Marwān b. al-Ḥakam

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out at the time of Hudaybiyah with over fourteen hundred, and he mentioned the hadith. And from here there is something attached to the hadith of al-Zuhri from al-Qasim bin Muhammad. He said: Abu Basir said to al-Amiri, while he had his sword with him, "I see that this sword of yours, O brother of Banu Amir, is good?" He said, "Yes, indeed." He said, "Show it to me so I may look at it." He said: so he handed it to him, and Abu Basir drew it, then struck al-Amiri until he killed him. The mawla fled, bounding toward the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he entered, they claimed, upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the mosque, with the pebbles rattling from the intensity of his running. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw him, he said to him, "This one has seen terror." Then he mentioned something similar to the hadith of Abd al-Razzaq. He said: when the disbelievers of Quraysh saw that, a group of them rode to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Your truce is of no benefit at all, while we are being killed and our wealth is being plundered. We ask you to include those among us who have accepted Islam in your treaty, and to restrain them and hold back their fighting against us." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did that, and Allah ﷻ revealed, "And it is He who withheld their hands from you and your hands from them" [al-Fath: 24], and he recited until he reached "the zeal of ignorance" [al-Fath: 26].
