[Machine] He informed him that 'Amr ibn 'Awf al-Ansari, who was an ally of Banu 'Amir ibn Lu'ay, and had participated in the Battle of Badr with the Prophet ﷺ , informed him that the Prophet ﷺ sent Abu 'Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah to Bahrain to collect its tax. The Prophet ﷺ was kind to the people of Bahrain and appointed Al-Ala' ibn Al-Hadrami as their leader. Abu 'Ubaidah arrived with wealth from Bahrain and narrated the hadith, meaning a similar hadith to that of Ma'mar.
أخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَمْرَو ابْنَ عَوْفٍ الْأنْصَارِيَّ وَهُوَ حَلِيفُ بَنِي عَامِرِ بْنِ لُؤَيٍّ وَكَانَ قَدْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَعَثَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ إِلَى الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَأْتِي بِجِزْيَتِهَا وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ صَالَحَ أَهْلَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ وَأَمَّرَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْعَلَاءَ بْنَ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ فَقَدِمَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بِمَالٍ مِنَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ يَعْنِي مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ مَعْمَرٍ
