[Machine] From a companion of the Prophet ﷺ, it is narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fasted during a journey in the year of victory, and he ordered his companions to break their fast. He said, "Verily, you will encounter an enemy, so strengthen yourselves." It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, the people have already observed their fast because of your fasting." When he reached the outskirts of Kadeed, he broke his fast. The one who narrated it said, "I indeed saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pouring water over his head due to the heat while he was fasting."  

أحمد:١٦٦٠٢ – حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنْ سُمَيٍّ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَامَ فِي سَفَرٍ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ وَأَمَرَ أَصْحَابَهُ بِالْإِفْطَارِ وَقَالَ إِنَّكُمْ تَلْقَوْنَ عَدُوًّا لَكُمْ فَتَقَوَّوْا فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ صَامُوا لِصِيَامِكَ فَلَمَّا أَتَى الْكَدِيدَ أَفْطَرَ قَالَ الَّذِي حَدَّثَنِي فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَصُبُّ الْمَاءَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِنَ الْحَرِّ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Sumayy, the mawla of Abu Bakr ibn Abd ar-Rahman, from Abu Bakr ibn Abd ar-Rahman from one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered everyone to break the fast on the journey he made in the year of the conquest saying, "Be strong for your enemy," while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ kept on fasting. Abu Bakr said that the one who related this to him said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pouring water over his head at al-Arj, either from thirst or from the heat. Then some one said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ 'Messenger of Allah, a group of people kept on fasting when you did.' Then when the Messenger of Allah was at al-Kadid, he asked for a drinking-bowl and drank, and everyone broke the fast."  

مالك:١٨-٢٤ – وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ سُمَىٍّ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ

عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَمَرَ النَّاسَ فِي سَفَرِهِ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ بِالْفِطْرِ وَقَالَ تَقَوَّوْا لِعَدُوِّكُمْ وَصَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ قَالَ الَّذِي حَدَّثَنِي لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالْعَرْجِ يَصُبُّ الْمَاءَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِنَ الْعَطَشِ أَوْ مِنَ الْحَرِّ ثُمَّ قِيلَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ طَائِفَةً مِنَ النَّاسِ قَدْ صَامُوا حِينَ صُمْتَ قَالَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالْكَدِيدِ دَعَا بِقَدَحٍ فَشَرِبَ فَأَفْطَرَ النَّاسُ

AbuBakr ibn AbdurRahman reported on the authority of a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ: I saw the Prophet ﷺ commanding the people while he was travelling on the occasion of the conquest of Mecca not to observe fast. He said: Be strong for your enemy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fasted himself. Narrated AbuBakr: A man who narrated his tradition to me said: I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in al-Arj pouring water over his head while he was fasting, either because of thirst or because of heat. [Machine] "About a man from the companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was fasting during his journey in the year of the conquest. He ordered his companions to break their fast and said, 'You will soon encounter your enemy, so strengthen yourselves.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, people have already fasted because of your fasting.' When they reached Al-Qadid, he broke his fast.
