ahmad:16324ʿAffān > Abān > Qatādah > Muṭarrif b. ʿAbdullāh from his father

[Machine] He said, "I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he was reciting this Surah: 'The mutual rivalry for piling up (wealth) diverts you.' Then he mentioned a similar saying, meaning the saying of Qatadah, 'Like the saying of Hammam.'"  

أحمد:١٦٣٢٤حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ حَدَّثَنَا مُطَرِّفُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ

قَالَ دُفِعْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ سَوَاءً وَلَيْسَفِيهِ قَوْلُ قَتَادَةَ يَعْنِي مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ هَمَّامٍ
