The virtue of being self-sufficient, discreet, and pious

ahmad:1529ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿAmr > Kathīr b. Zayd al-Aslamī > al-Muṭṭalib > ʿUmar b. Saʿd > Saʿd

[AI] His son Amir came to him, and he said: My son, are you urging me, in the civil strife, to become a leader? No, by Allah, not until I am given a sword that, if I strike a believer with it, it turns away from him, and if I strike a disbeliever with it, it kills him. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Allah ﷻ loves the self-sufficient, discreet, and pious person."
