ahmad:144 – Abū Saʿīd > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Muḥammad > Ṣāliḥ b. Muḥammad b. Zāʾidahaʿan Sālim b. ʿAbdullāh

ʿAbdullah bin 'Umar toid me from ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “If you find stolen booty with a man, then burn it ­ and I think he said: and beat him.” So he took his property out to the market and found a Mushaf among his goods. He asked Salim, who said: Sell it, and gave its price in charity,  

أحمد:١٤٤ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَائِدَةَعَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ فِي أَرْضِ الرُّومِ فَوُجِدَ فِي مَتَاعِ رَجُلٍ غُلُولٌ فَسَأَلَ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ عَنْ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ وَجَدْتُمْ فِي مَتَاعِهِ غُلُولًا فَأَحْرِقُوهُ قَالَ وَأَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ وَاضْرِبُوهُ قَالَ فَأَخْرَجَ مَتَاعَهُ فِي السُّوقِ قَالَ فَوَجَدَ فِيهِ مُصْحَفًا فَسَأَلَ سَالِمًا فَقَالَ بِعْهُ وَتَصَدَّقْ بِثَمَنِهِ

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "If you find a man who has gone astray, destroy his belongings and strike him." He said: "So we found in his belongings a copy of the Quran, and Salim was asked about it. He said, 'Sell it and give its price in charity.' The wording of the Hadith is weak, narrated by Sa'id."  

البيهقي:١٨٢١٣ – وَأَمَّا الْحَدِيثُ الَّذِي أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرِ بْنُ قَتَادَةَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْفَارِسِيُّ قَالَا أنبأ أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ مَطَرٍ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أنبأ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عِيسَى ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَجْدَةَ الْقُرَشِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنِي صَالِحُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَائِدَةَ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ مَعَ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ أَرْضَ الرُّومِ فَأُتِيَ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ غَلَّ فَسَأَلَ سَالِمًا عَنْهُ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا وَجَدْتُمُ الرَّجُلَ قَدْ غَلَّ فَأَحْرِقُوا مَتَاعَهُ وَاضْرِبُوهُ قَالَ فَوَجَدْنَا فِي مَتَاعِهِ مُصْحَفًا فَسُئِلَ سَالِمٌ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ بِعْهُ وَتَصَدَّقْ بِثَمَنِهِ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ سَعِيدٍ فَهَذَا ضَعِيفٌ
