No harm in varying the number of pebbles at the jamrah

ahmad:1439ʿAffān > ʿAbd al-Wārith > Ibn Abī Najīḥ

[AI] I asked Tawus about a man who stoned the Jamrah with six pebbles, and he said, "Let him feed a handful of food."

Then I met Mujahid and asked him, and I mentioned to him Tawus's statement. He said, "May Allah have mercy on Abu Abd al-Rahman. Has the statement of Saad ibn Malik not reached him?" He said, "We stoned the Jamarat, or the Jamrah, during our Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then we sat discussing it, and some of us said, 'I threw six,' some of us said, 'I threw seven,' some of us said, 'I threw eight,' and some of us said, 'I threw nine.' And they saw no harm in that."
