ahmad:1256Abū Nuʿaym > Sharīk > al-Aswad b. Qays > ʿAmr b. Sufyān > Khaṭab a man Yawm al-Baṣrah Ḥīn Ẓahar ʿAlī

A man gave a speech when ‘Ali ؓ prevailed on the day of Basrah, and ‘Ali said: This speaker does not know what he is talking about. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came first, Abu Bakr came second and ʿUmar came third. Then we got involved in turmoil after they were gone, and Allah will judge concerning it as He wills.  

أحمد:١٢٥٦حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ

خَطَبَ رَجُلٌ يَوْمَ الْبَصْرَةِ حِينَ ظَهَرَ عَلِيٌّ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ هَذَا الْخَطِيبُ الشَّحْشَحُ سَبَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَصَلَّى أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَثَلَّثَ عُمَرُ ثُمَّ خَبَطَتْنَا فِتْنَةٌ بَعْدَهُمْ يَصْنَعُ اللهُ فِيهَا مَا شَاءَ
