[Machine] When death approached him, he wept. So, he was asked, "O Abu Hurayrah, what makes you cry?" He replied, "The distance of the battle and the scarcity of provisions, and the difficulty of the journey, like the hill of a difficult descent from which one would proceed to either Paradise or Hell."  

الزهد لأحمد:٩٩٨حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفِ عَنِ ضَمْرَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ شَوْذَبٍ [147] قَالَ

لَمَّا حَضَرَتْهُ الْوَفَاةُ بَكَى فَقِيلَ لَهُ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ مَا يُبْكِيكَ؟ قَالَ بُعْدُ الْمَفَازَةِ وَقِلَّةِ الزَّادِ وَعَقَبَةٌ كَئُودٌ الْمَهْبِطُ مِنْهَا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ أَوِ النَّارِ
