[Machine] "O my son, humble yourself, meaning detach yourself from your possessions. He does not need you, nor do you need him, O my son. Be like someone who does not seek people's praise, for his own self will be troubled by it while the people will find comfort in it."  

الزهد لأحمد:٥٣٨حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا أبِي حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ إِنَّ لُقْمَانَ قَالَ

لِابْنِهِ يَا بُنَيَّ أَنْزِلْ نَفْسَكَ يَعْنِي مِنْ مَوَلَاكَ مَنْزِلَةً لَا حَاجَةَ لَهُ بِكَ وَلَا بُدَّ لَكَ مِنْهُ يَا بُنَيَّ كُنْ كَمَنْ لَا يَبْتَغِي مَحْمَدَةَ النَّاسِ يَكْتُبُ مَذَمَّتَهُمْ؛ فَنَفْسُهُ مِنْهُ فِي عَنَاءٍ وَالنَّاسُ مِنْهُ فِي رَاحَةٍ
