ahmad-zuhd:2324ʿAbdullāh from my father > al-Mughīrah > Ibn ʿAyyāsh > Shuraḥbīl b. Muslim

[Machine] Abu Muslim Al-Khawlani, when he came to a ruined village, would stand in it and then say, "Oh, oh ruined village, where have your people gone and their deeds remain? Desire has been severed, while sin remains. O son of Adam, abandoning sin is easier than seeking repentance."  

الزهد لأحمد:٢٣٢٤حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ حَدَّثَنِي شُرَحْبِيلُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ

كَانَ أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ إِذَا أَتَى خِرْبَةً وَقَفَ عَلَيْهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا يَا خِرْبَةُ أَيْنَ أَهْلُكِ ذَهَبُوا وَبَقِيَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ انْقَطَعَتْ الشَّهْوَةُ وَبَقِيَتْ الْخَطِيئَةُ ابْنَ آدَمَ تَرْكُ الْخَطِيئَةِ أَهْوَنُ مِنْ طَلَبِ التَّوْبَةِ
