[Machine] Abu Wael said to me, "Do you know what I compare the reciters of our time to?" I said, "Who do you compare them to?" He said, "I compare them to a man who fattens a sheep, and when he slaughters it, he finds it filled with impurities that cannot be purified. Or a man who accumulates coins and throws them into mercury, then takes them out and finds them to be made of copper."
قَالَ لِي أَبُو وَائِلٍ «أَتَدْرِي بِمَا أُشَبِّهُ قُرَّاءَ أَهْلِ زَمَانِنَا» ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ وَمَنْ يُشْبِهُهُمْ؟ قَالَ «أُشَبِّهُهُمْ بِرَجُلٍ أَسْمَنَ غَنَمًا فَلَمَّا ذَبَحَهَا وَجَدَهَا غُثَاءً لَا تَنْقَى أَوْ رَجُلٍ عَمَدَ إِلَى دَرَاهِمَ فَأَلْقَاهَا فِي زِئْبَقٍ ثُمَّ أَخْرَجَهَا فَكَسَرَهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ نُحَاسٌ»
