الزهد لأحمد:١٨٦٢ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا سَيَّارٌ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مَالِكَ بْنَ دِينَارٍ وَقِيلَ لَهُ يَا أَبَا يَحْيَى لَوْ لَيَّنْتَ كَلَامَكَ كَثُرَتْ غَاشِيَتُكَ وَأَصْحَابُكَ فَقَالَ

«أَيَنْقَطِعُ مَائِدَتِي؟ أَيْنَكَسِرُ خَرَاجِي؟ أَبْنَاءٌ لَا جَاءَ اللَّهُ بِهِمْ»
