[Machine] I heard Ghaylan mention about Muttarif, he said, "I prefer to be healthy and be grateful rather than to be tested and be patient." Muttarif said, "I looked into gratitude and good health, and behold, they are the best of this world and the Hereafter."  

الزهد لأحمد:١٣٥٣حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيٌّ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ غَيْلَانَ يَذْكُرُ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ قَالَ لَأَنْ أُعَافَى فَأَشْكُرَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أُبْتَلَى فَأَصْبِرَ قَالَ مُطَرِّفٌ نَظَرْتُ فِي الشُّكْرِ وَالْعَافِيَةِ فَإِذَا فِيهِمَا خَيْرُ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ
