adab:470 –

Sa'id al-Maqburi reported from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Beware of avarice. It destroyed those before you. They shed one another's blood and broke off relations with their relatives. Injustice will appear as darkness on the Day of Rising."

الأدب المفرد:٤٧٠ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالشُّحَّ فَإِنَّهُ أَهْلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ سَفَكُوا دِمَاءَهُمْ وَقَطَعُوا أَرْحَامَهُمْ وَالظُّلْمُ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

Opression will become the darkness of Judgement Day

muslim:2578 – ʿAbdullāh b. Maslamah b. Qaʿnab > Dāwud / Ibn Qays > ʿUbaydullāh b. Miqsam > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Beware of wrongdoing/oppression, for wrongdoing will become darknesses on the Day of Judgement. And beware of miserly greed, for miserly greed destroyed those who came before you: it drove them to shed one another’s blood and ˹make invading˺ their ˹personal˺ sanctity as lawful.”

مسلم:٢٥٧٨ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ قَعْنَبٍ حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ قَيْسٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مِقْسَمٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «اتَّقُوا الظُّلْمَ، فَإِنَّ الظُّلْمَ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ. وَاتَّقُوا الشُّحَّ، فَإِنَّ الشُّحَّ أَهْلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ: حَمَلَهُمْ عَلَى أَنْ سَفَكُوا دِمَاءَهُمْ وَاسْتَحَلُّوا مَحَارِمَهُمْ».
