The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah, the Exalted, said to the children of Israel : "... but enter the gate with humility, in posture and in words, and you will be forgiven your faults (tughfar lakum)".
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ { ادْخُلُوا الْبَابَ سُجَّدًا وَقُولُوا حِطَّةٌ تُغْفَرْ لَكُمْ خَطَايَاكُمْ }
This is what Abu Huraira reported to us from Messenger of Allah ﷺ and in this connection he narrated some of the ahadith and Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: It was said to people of Israel: Enter this land saying Hitta (Remove Thou from us the burden of our sins), whereupon We would forgive you your sins, but they twisted (this statement) and entered the gate dragging upon their breech and said: The" grain in the ear." قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «قِيلَ لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ {ادْخُلُوا الْبَابَ سُجَّدًا وَقُولُوا حِطَّةٌ} نَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ خَطَايَاكُمْ فَبَدَّلُوا فَدَخَلُوا الْبَابَ يَزْحَفُونَ عَلَى أَسْتَاهِهِمْ وَقَالُوا حَبَّةٌ فِي شَعْرَةٍ»
