They (the Companions) accompanied the Prophet ﷺ while they were climbing the turning of a hill. A man uttered loudly: "There is no god but Allah, and Allah is most great" when he ascended the hill. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said: You are not supplicating one who is deaf or absent. He then said: 'Abd Allah b. Qais. The narrator then transmitted the tradition to the same effect.

A treasure from the treasures of Jannah

bukhari:4205Mūsá b. Ismāʿīl > ʿAbd al-Wāḥid > ʿĀṣim > Abū ʿUthmān > Abū Mūsá al-Ashʿarī

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went on expedition to Khaybar, or he said, when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out, the people came upon a valley and raised their voices with the takbir: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, lā ilāha illā Allāh. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Take it easy on yourselves, for you are not calling upon one who is deaf or absent; you are calling upon One who is Hearing, Near, and He is with you."

I was behind the mount of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he heard me while I was saying, “There is no might and no power except with Allah.” He said to me: "O Abdullah b. Qays." I said, “Labbayk (at your service), Messenger of Allah.” He said: "Shall I not guide you to a phrase from a treasure among the treasures of Jannah?" I said, “Yes, Messenger of Allah; may my father and mother be ransomed for you.” He said:

lā ḥawla wa-lā quwwata illā bi-Allāh

(There is no might and no power except with Allah)
