tirmidhi:3015 – ʿAbd b. Ḥumayd > Yaḥyá b. Ādam > Ibn ʿUyaynah > Muḥammad b. al-Munkadir > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

"I was ill, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit me, and I was unconscious. When I awoke, I said: 'How do you order me regarding my wealth?' He did not answer me until Allah revealed: Allah commands you regarding your children's (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females (4:11)." Jãbir bin 'Abdulläh narrated from the Prophet similarly. And in the narration of Al-Fadl bin As-Sabbäh (a narrator in the chain) there is more than this stated.  

الترمذي:٣٠١٥ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ مَرِضْتُ فَأَتَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَعُودُنِي وَقَدْ أُغْمِيَ عَلَىَّ فَلَمَّا أَفَقْتُ قُلْتُ كَيْفَ أَقْضِي فِي مَالِي فَسَكَتَ عَنِّي حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ ( يُوصِيكُمُ اللَّهُ فِي أَوْلاَدِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الأُنْثَيَيْنِ )  

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَقَدْ رَوَى غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ نَحْوَهُ وَفِي حَدِيثِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ كَلاَمٌ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ هَذَا

I became sick so Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr came on foot to pay me a visit. When they came, I was unconscious. Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed ablution and he poured over me the water (of his ablution) and I came to my senses and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! What shall I do regarding my property? How shall I distribute it?" The Prophet ﷺ did not reply till the Divine Verses of inheritance were revealed .  

البخاري:٦٧٢٣ – حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ

سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ؓ يَقُولُ مَرِضْتُ فَعَادَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَهُمَا مَاشِيَانِ فَأَتَانِي وَقَدْ أُغْمِيَ عَلَىَّ فَتَوَضَّأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَصَبَّ عَلَىَّ وَضُوءَهُ فَأَفَقْتُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ فِي مَالِي كَيْفَ أَقْضِي فِي مَالِي فَلَمْ يُجِبْنِي بِشَىْءٍ حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الْمَوَارِيثِ  

tirmidhi:2096 – ʿAbd b. Ḥumayd > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Saʿd > ʿAmr b. Abū Qays > Muḥammad b. al-Munkadir > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit me while I was ill at Banu Salamah. I said : 'O Prophet of Allah ﷺ! How shall I divide my wealth among my children?' But he did not say anything to me, until the following was revealed: Allah commands you regarding your children's (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females."  

الترمذي:٢٠٩٦ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ قال حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَعْدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي قَيْسٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

جَاءَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَعُودُنِي وَأَنَا مَرِيضٌ فِي بَنِي سَلِمَةَ فَقُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ أَقْسِمُ مَالِي بَيْنَ وَلَدِي فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَىَّ شَيْئًا فَنَزَلَتْ (يُوصِيكُمُ اللَّهُ فِي أَوْلاَدِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الأُنْثَيَيْنِ ) الآيَةَ
