Jarir narrated this on the authority of A'mash with the same chain of narrators (as mentioned above).

مسلم:٥٢j – وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ

مسلم:٢٢٩٧b – وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ

عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ أَصْحَابِي أَصْحَابِي

muslim:2207b – [Chain 1] ʿUthmān b. Abū Shaybah > Jarīr [Chain 2] Isḥāq b. Manṣūr > ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Sufyān

A'mash reported this with the same chain of transmitters and he made no mention of the fact that he cut one of his veins.
