[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of Badr, "Whoever kills a warrior, he will have this and that reward." The elders stood firm under the banners, while the young men hastened towards fighting and gaining spoils. The elders said to the young men, "Include us with you, for we were a shield for you. If you had anything, you would have come to us." They refused, so they argued and went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Then the verse (They ask you about the spoils) [Quran 8:1] was revealed, and the spoils were distributed equally among them.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ «مَنْ قَتَلَ قَتِيلًا فَلَهُ كَذَا وَكَذَا» أَمَّا الْمَشْيَخَةُ فَثَبَتُوا تَحْتَ الرَّايَاتِ وَأَمَّا الشُّبَّانُ فَتَسَارَعُوا إِلَى الْقَتْلِ وَالْغَنَائِمَ فَقَالَتِ الْمَشْيَخَةُ لِلشُّبَّانِ أَشْرِكُونَا مَعَكُمْ فَإِنَّا كُنَّا رِدْأً لَكُمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ فِيكُمْ شَيْءٌ لَجِئْتُمْ إِلَيْنَا فَأَبَوْا فَاخْتَصَمُوا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ فَنَزَلَتْ {يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْأَنْفَالِ} [الأنفال 1] فَقُسِمَتِ الْغَنَائِمُ بَيْنَهُمْ بِالسَّوِيَّةِ
