[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The superiority of the scholar over the worshipper is like my superiority over the least among you." Then he recited this verse, "It is only those who have knowledge among His servants that fear Allah." [Fatir 28] Then he said, "Indeed, Allah and His angels, the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth, and even the fish in the sea pray for those who teach people goodness."

The virtue of the scholar over the worshiper

tirmidhi:2685Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Aʿlá al-Ṣanʿānī > Salamah b. Rajāʾ > al-Walīd b. Jamīl > al-Qāsim Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān > Abū Umāmah al-Bāhilī

Two men were mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: one of them was a worshiper and the other a scholar. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The superiority of the scholar over the worshiper is like my superiority over the least of you." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, Allah, His angels, and the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth, even the ant in its hole, and even the fish, send blessings upon the one who teaches people good."

Abu Isa said: This is a hasan, sahih, gharib hadith. He said: I heard Abu Ammar al-Husayn ibn Hurayth al-Khuzai say: I heard al-Fudayl ibn Iyad say: A scholar who acts and teaches will be called great in the dominion of the heavens.
