The best among your are the ones of the best character

bukhari:6029 – Ḥafṣ b. ʿUmar > Shuʿbah > Sulaymān > Abū Wāʾil > Masrūq > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr > Qutaybah > Jarīr > al-Aʿmash > Shaqīq b. Salamah > Masrūq

Abdullah bin 'Amr mentioned Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying that he was neither a Fahish nor a Mutafahish. Abdullah bin 'Amr added, Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The best among you are those who have the best manners and character.'  

البخاري:٦٠٢٩ – حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا وَائِلٍ سَمِعْتُ مَسْرُوقًا قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ قَالَ

دَخَلْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو حِينَ قَدِمَ مَعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ فَذَكَرَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَمْ يَكُنْ فَاحِشًا وَلاَ مُتَفَحِّشًا وَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ مِنْ أَخْيَرِكُمْ أَحْسَنَكُمْ خُلُقًا

We went to Abdullah b. 'Amr when Mu'dwiya came to Kufa, and he made a mention of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: He was never immoderate in his talk and he never reviled others. Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said: The best amongst you are those who are best in morals. Uthman said: When he came to Kufa along with Mu'awiya... (The rest of the hadith is the same).  

مسلم:٢٣٢١a – حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ قَالَ

ibnhibban:477 – al-Faḍl b. al-Ḥubāb > Muḥammad b. Kathīr al-ʿAbdī > Sufyān al-Thawrī > al-Aʿmash > Abū Wāʾil > Masrūq

[Machine] "Abdullah ibn Amr said, 'Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was not obscene nor did he utter obscenities. He used to say, 'The best among you are those with the best manners.'"  

ابن حبّان:٤٧٧ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ قَالَ قَالَ

عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَمْ يَكُنْ فَاحِشًا وَلَا مُتَفَاحِشًا وَكَانَ يَقُولُ «خِيَارُكُمْ أَحَاسِنُكُمْ أَخْلَاقًا»
