"I asked Masruq, 'Who informed the Prophet ﷺ about the Jinns at the night when they heard the Qur'an?' He said, 'Your father ʿAbdullah informed me that a tree informed the Prophet ﷺ about them.' "  

البخاري:٣٨٥٩ – حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ مَعْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي قَالَ

سَأَلْتُ مَسْرُوقًا مَنْ آذَنَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِالْجِنِّ لَيْلَةَ اسْتَمَعُوا الْقُرْآنَ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُوكَ يَعْنِي عَبْدَ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ آذَنَتْ بِهِمْ شَجَرَةٌ

I asked Masruq who informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the night when they heard the Qur'an. He said: Your father, Ibn Mas'ud, narrated it to me that a tree informed him about that.
