42.3 Superfluous water should not be withheld from others

٤٢۔٣ باب مَنْ قَالَ إِنَّ صَاحِبَ الْمَاءِ أَحَقُّ بِالْمَاءِ حَتَّى يَرْوَى

[Machine] According to the saying of the Prophet ﷺ : "The excellence of water is not withheld."

لِقَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ: «لا يُمْنَعُ فَضْلُ الْمَاءِ».

bukhari:2353 – ʿAbdullāh b. Yūsuf > Mālik > Abū al-Zinād > al-Aʿraj > Abū Hurayrah

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not withhold the superfluous water, for that will prevent people from grazing their cattle."  

البخاري:٢٣٥٣ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يُمْنَعُ فَضْلُ الْمَاءِ لِيُمْنَعَ بِهِ الْكَلأُ  

bukhari:2354 – Yaḥyá b. Bukayr > al-Layth > ʿUqayl > Ibn Shihāb > Ibn al-Musayyab And ʾAbī Salamah > Abū Hurayrah

that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not withhold the superfluous water in order to withhold the superfluous grass."
